The 2011-2012 school year marks the Missouri Interactive Telecommunication-Education (MIT-E) Network’s 19th year of sharing high school and dual credit college classes.  We are a consortium of 17 high schools and Central Methodist University located throughout Central Missouri.

In addition to pooling resources to increase class offerings for member districts, each school has committed to follow a common calendar and bell schedule.  This collective effort allows member schools to send and receive advance high school and dual credit classes using videoconferencing, that are not available locally.  The MIT-E Network is one of the most utilized organizations of its kind in the state.  MIT-E was formed in 1993 and is one Missouri’s original I-TV consortiums.

Organizationally the network is composed of three groups:  MIT-E North, Central, and South.  Each group has a board of directors responsible for making decisions for their member districts.  Superintendents, principals, counselors, and site facilitators at each school have a direct role in making I-TV class offerings successful in their individual district.

Technically the network functions as a single entity.  All sites can connect with any other endpoint with an IP address.  Member schools support a common network staff that is responsible for scheduling, budgeting, troubleshooting, training, and equipment maintenance.
